Celebrating the life of

Jay Philip Helmreich

November 26, 1990 - December 16, 2013

Jay Philip Helmreich

Jay Philip Helmreich

11/26/90 - 12/15/13

Jay is rejoicing in heaven today - renewed! His struggle with pain has died with his earthly body. Jay is an amazing musician and composer, and God needs him for a special Christmas concert! He truly knows his music abilities are a gift from God and is not shy about it. His love of food and celebration is surpassed only by his passion for the beauty of God's creation. Jay's sense of humor is a gift to his family and friends. He has never met a stranger and everyone he meets loves him immediately.

Jay is predeceased by his maternal grandfather, John K. Robinson, Sr., and paternal grandparents Walter and Elma Helmreich.

He is survived by his adoring mother and father, Beckie and David; loving brother, Scott; maternal grandmother, Virginia Robinson; aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday, December 20, 2013 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.

A celebration of Jay's life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 21, 2013 at Savannah Christian Church East, 9150 Old Montgomery Rd.

Jay has been part of ongoing research studies since finally getting the diagnosis, CHILDHOOD RND in April 2008. He needlessly suffered between the ages of 12 and 17 with joint pain over 80% of his body since having complications with influenza/bacterial pneumonia in January 2003. It amazingly took five years and over 30 doctors, spanning four states, to get a proper diagnosis. Jay's family and friends wish to increase awareness and early recognition of this serious disease by all health care providers, so that other children might not have to suffer as Jay did.

In lieu of flowers please make a donation, in Jay's honor, to: The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Foundation, Childhood RND, Lockbox #1352, P.O. Box 8500, Philadelphia, PA 19178. Office: 267/426-5332, FUND DESIGNATION: Dr. David Sherry's Research or online at www.stopchildhoodpain.org

My wife and I met Jay at family and social gatherings at our daughters house. We found him to be a very delightful young man.
